Passeport et autres documents requis :
Il en incombe à la responsabilité du passager de réunir toutes les informations nécessaires et d’obtenir les documents de voyage et visas requis pour la destination concernée.
- En règle générale, tout passager à destination des États-Unis, y compris les citoyens américains, doivent être en possession d’un passeport valide et valable pour voyager aux États-Unis.
- Tout passager, sauf les citoyens américains, doivent aussi être en possession d’un visa valide et valable, sauf :
- Les résidents permanents américains en possession d’une carte de résident permanent valide I-551 ( Green Card )
- Les citoyens canadiens entrant aux États-Unis pour voyage d’affaires ou de tourisme
- Les passagers qui sont éligibles à entrer aux États-Unis dans le cadre du programme d’exemption de Visa (Visa Waiver Program – VWP) – merci de vous référer aux informations ci-dessous
Programme d’exemption de visa (Visa Waiver Program – VWP)
Le programme d’exemption de visa (VWP) autorise les citoyens de certains pays à voyager aux États-Unis pour tourisme ou affaires pour 90 jours maximum sans visa nécessaire. Tous les pays ne participent pas à ce programme d’exemption de visa. Certaines restrictions et conditions s’applique dans le cadre de ce programme comme indiquées ci-dessous :
- Les passagers voyageant aux États-Unis dans le cadre du programme VWP doivent être en possession d’un billet d’avion valide confirmé pour un aller-retour ou aller simple pour les États-Unis pour un séjour de 90 jours maximum à l’arrivée aux États-Unis, avant d’entrer sur le territoire américain. Les aller simples pour le Canada, le Mexique, les Bermudes et/ou les Caraïbes ne sont pas suffisants pour satisfaire à cette règle, à moins que le passager soit résident légal de l’un de ces pays.
- TOUS les passagers voyageant aux États-Unis dans le cadre du programme d’exemption de visa (VWP) doivent être en possession d’un passeport valide au moins 6 mois après la date de fin de séjour aux États-Unis, et biométrique.
o Si le passeport a été émis après le 26 octobre 2005 inclus, il doit comprendre une photographie digitale du passager, c’est-à-dire imprimée sur l’une des pages du passeport (et non, collée).
o Si le passeport a été émis après le 26 octobre 2006 inclus, il doit comprendre une puce électronique(passeport biométrique). Selon la date d’émission du passeport, les enfants DOIVENT posséder leur propre passeport satisfaisant aux règles ci-dessus afin de pouvoir entrer aux États-Unis dans le cadre du programme VWP.

Depuis le 20 janvier 2010, les citoyens des pays suivants sont éligibles à l’entrée aux États-Unis dans le cadre du programme VWP : Andorre, Autriche, Australie, Belgique, Bruneï, Danemark, Finlande, France, Allemagne, Islande, Irlande (République), Italie, Japon, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Principauté de Monaco, Pays-Bas, Nouvelle-Zélande, Norvège, Portugal, Saint Marin, Singapour, Slovénie, Espagne, Suède, Suisse, Royaume-Uni.
Pour les passeports du Royaume-Uni, seuls les détenteurs de passeports de Grande-Bretagne considérés comme « Résident de Grande-Bretagne» ou « Sujets de Grande-Bretagne – avec droit de résidence » sont éligibles à voyager aux États-Unis dans le cadre du programme VWP.
Les détenteurs de tout autre passeport de Grande-Bretagne ne sont pas éligibles.
En complément des 27 pays mentionnés ci-dessus, les 8 pays suivants sont à présent considérés comme éligibles au programme VWP : République Tchèque, Estonie, Hongrie, Lettonie, Lituanie, Malte, République de Corée et Slovaquie. Les citoyens de ces 8 pays doivent être détenteur de passeports intégrant une puce électronique (passeport biométrique) afin de pouvoir entrer aux États-Unis dans le cadre du programme VWP – en fonction de la date d’émission dudit passeport.
Depuis le 05 avril 2010, les citoyens grecs sont aussi éligibles au programme VWP, lorsqu’ils sont détenteurs d’un passeport biométrique émis par les services de police grecs (AEA AA-NCP) après le 26 août 2006 inclus.
Il est demandé aux passagers de contacter l’autorité responsable de l’émission de passeports dans leur pays de résidence pour obtenir plus d’informations sur les passeports qu’ils ont en leur possession.
AUTORISATION ESTA (Electronic System Travel Authorization)
Tous les passagers voyageant aux États-Unis dans le cadre du programme VWP doivent obtenir une autorisation ESTA avant leur départ. Les demandes d’ESTA peuvent être effectuées sur le site : https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/
Important : En application d’une directive des autorités américaines, les passagers des pays éligibles au programme VWP peuvent être refusés à bord s’ils n’ont ni autorisation ESTA valide, ni visa à présenter avant leur départ. Toute enfreinte à cette règle peut être passible d’amendes et autres arrêtés.

Tout passager qui ne satisferait pas les conditions requises ci-dessus doit faire une demande de visa de non-immigration pour entrer aux États-Unis ou risque d’être refusé à bord, ou à l’entrée aux États-Unis à l’arrivée ainsi que la responsabilité d’une amende considérable.

La législation américaine demande aux passagers débarqués au moment de leur escale, de clarifier leur situation avec les services d’immigration et douanes. Si le voyage inclut un arrêt dans un aéroport aux États-Unis avant la destination finale, le passager sera débarqué, devra se présenter aux services d’immigration, récupérer son bagage, clarifier sa situation auprès des douanes et ensuite s’enregistrer pour son vol suivant.

Passports and other documentary requirements
It is the responsibility of the passenger to gather information about and obtain the required travel documents and visas that he/she needs for the destination country.
In general, all passengers, including U.S. citizens, must be in possession of a valid and unexpired passport to travel to the United States.
All passengers, except U.S. citizens, must also be in possession of a valid and unexpired visa, except:
- Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. who are in possession of a valid I-551 Permanent Resident Card (Green Card);
- Canadian citizens entering the U.S. for business/tourism; and
- passengers who are eligible to enter the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) - see information below.
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP)
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables citizens of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. Not all countries participate in the VWP. Some restrictions and conditions apply to this program as explained below.
Passengers travelling to the U.S. under the VWP must have a valid ticket for a confirmed return or onward flight from the U.S. within 90 days or arrival in the U.S. , prior to entering the U.S. An onward flights to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and/or the Caribbean is insufficient to satisfy this requirement, unless the passenger is a lawful resident of one of those countries.
ALL passengers travelling to the United Stated under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) must carry with them an unexpired passport that is valid for at least six months beyond intended stay in the U.S. and is Machine Readable (MRP). If the passport was issued on or after October 26, 2005 , the passport must contain a digital photograph. A digital photo is one that is printed on the passport page, not a photograph that is glued or laminated into the passport.
If the passport was issued on or after October 26, 2006, the passport must contain an electronic chip (e-passport). Regardless of the date of issue, children MUST have their own passport that satisfy the above requirements in order to enter the U.S. on the VWP). An e-passport is identified by the following symbol on its cover:

As of January 20, 2010, citizens of the following countries are eligible to enter the U.S. on the VWP: Andorra, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (Rep.), Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom ( United Kingdom Passports: Only those British Passport holders who are "British Citizens" or "British Subjects - With Right of Abode" are eligible to travel on the VWP. Holders of all other British Passports are ineligible).
In addition to the 27 countries listed above, the following eight countries are now also eligible for the VWP: Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Republic of Korea and the Slovak Republic. Citizens of these eight countries must carry passports with the integrated chip (e-Passports) in order to enter the U.S. under the VWP - regardless of the date the passport was issued. Lastly, as of 5th of April 2010, citizens of Greece are also eligible for the VWP, provided they carry an e-Passport issued on or after August 26 2006 by the AEA AA-NCP (Hellenic Police)
Passengers are directed to contact the authority responsible for issuing passports in the home country to obtain more information about their passports.
ELECTRONIC SYSTEM TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION (ESTA)
All passengers travelling to the U.S. under the VWP must obtain an Electronic System Travel Authorization (ESTA), in advance of departure. Applications for ESTA can be made at the following website: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/
PLEASE NOTE: Due to a directive from the U.S. authorities, passengers from VWP countries can expect to be denied passage if they have neither a valid ESTA nor a visa presented prior to departure. Violations are subject to penalties and other by-laws.

Any passenger who does not satisfy the above requirements will require a non-immigrant visa to enter the U.S. or risk denial of passage or summary refusal of entry upon arrival and liability for a substantial monetary penalty.
Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS) and Secure Flight
U.S. law requires that Icelandair collect certain information from all passengers (including U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, visa holders and VWP passengers), travelling to and from the United States; see: http://www.icelandair.is/information/before-you-go/apis/
Icelandair strongly recommends that passengers complete the APIS information form during the booking process, or well in advance of heading to the airport.

U.S. law requires that passengers disembark at their first port of call, to clear immigrations and customs. If the travel itinerary includes a stop at a U.S. airport before the final destination, the traveller must disembark, go through immigration, collect the luggage, clear customs and continue towards check-in for the second flight.
