The fleet expands

1944

The two aircraft companies, Flugfélag Íslands and Loftleidir, continued to add to their fleets in the following years. In the summer of 1944, Flugfélag Íslands operated two brand new De Havilland Rapide land-based planes in addition to the Beechcraft.

And Loftleidir equipped itself with a new Stinson and a Grumman Goose flying boat. More and more aircraft were being added to the Icelandic fleet. The two companies were flying high, and they carried passengers and freight to many destinations all around the country.
