Flights for children

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Icelandair set up a fund to give children with long-term illnesses or those living in special circumstances the chance to travel. The idea came from Peggy Helgason, who has worked for many years as a volunteer in the children's hospital in Reykjavík. Every year, the fund allows at least 20 children and their families to take a dream trip. It is financed by Icelandair and the airline's passengers, who donate frequent flier points or foreign coins to the cause. The fund has surpassed all expectations.
